William Shakespeare is England's most celebrated playwright and poet. His works have been translated into 80 languages. He helped shape the English people use today, introducing up to 300 words and dozens of well-known phrases.

 

His plays are known around the world for their universal themes and insight into the human condition. Yet much about the dramatist is a mystery. Historians don't know his real date of birth, where he was educated or how he spent seven years of his life.

 

Many people suggest William Shakespeare is the best playwright. But what do we know about this man? Did he really exist?

 

It is immposible to speak about English Literature without speaking about Shakespeare. William Shakespeare ... The brilliant poet, the wonderful dramatist, the greatest of the great. He was not of age, but for all time.

 

In 2016 we are marking the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare death. The 23rd of April is the Bard’s birthday, so here we’re taking a closer look at England’s most famous author. This Shakespearean webquest includes activities on Shakespeare’s life, his creativity and famous quotes from his plays that we still use today.

 

Description: This is a webquest that will help pupils learn about William Shakespeare and the time period in which he lived.
